      Kingston, NY – Ulster County Executive Mike Hein proclaims the week of January 15th No Name-Calling Week in Ulster County.  No Name-Calling Week (NNCW) is a national bullying prevention campaign developed by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) and is co-sponsored locally by the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center.  The focus is to “Celebrate Kindness” while working to create safe schools free from name-calling, bullying and bias.  This is the 8th consecutive year that Ulster County is participating in No Name-Calling Week.

    Kingston, NY - Ulster County Executive Mike Hein announces that the Ulster County Youth Bureau is accepting applications for the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) Youth Development grants.  The Ulster County Youth Bureau administers the Youth Development Program (YDP) and Runaway & Homeless Shelter (RHYA) funding from OCFS and Ulster County to support youth programs.

The legislation, which the Ulster County Legislature unanimously passed, continues Ulster County’s recognition and commitment to Veterans for their service to the country.

    UPDATE – The Governor’s Office has provided additional information and guidance regarding the impact of Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order dated December 22, 2017.  The Order does not affect the collection of school or village taxes and therefore, neither of those taxes can be prepaid.  Town tax collectors have the discretion to accept only General Tax (county/town) payments early.

     Fitch Ratings Upgrades The County’s Bond Rating To ‘AA’ And Lists Its Outlook As StableKingston, N.Y. – Ulster County Executive Mike Hein is pleased to announce that Fitch Ratings has upgraded Ulster County’s bond rating to ‘AA’ from its previous rating of ‘AA-’. According to Fitch Ratings, the ‘AA’ bond rating is due to the County’s “very strong financial resilience” and strong track record of maintaining stable financial operations during periods of economic recovery.
