Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger today announced that Commissioner of Finance Roseann Daw will be stepping down at the end of July to attend to family obligations, after more than two years of dedicated service to the County. Upon her departure, Deputy Commissioner Max Cordella will assume the role of Acting Commissioner of Finance.
Daw, appointed in 2023, brought more than 25 years of accounting and managerial experience to the County. Her tenure helped strengthen fiscal oversight, modernize internal processes, and promote transparent financial management.
“We thank Roseann for her service to Ulster County and wish her the very best in her next professional chapter,” said County Executive Jen Metzger. “Her work over the past two years helped strengthen internal financial processes and ensure transparency, and we’re grateful for her contributions. Deputy Commissioner Max Cordella will serve as Acting Finance Commissioner and is well-prepared to step into this position and maintain continuity in the Department of Finance.”
Cordella was hired around the same time as Commissioner Daw and has been in charge of a broad portfolio of financial management responsibilities. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Columbia University and a Master of Science in Finance and Economics from the London School of Economics. He will take on the role of Acting Commissioner of Finance effective August 1.
